Scholarships
The Rotary Club of the Caldwell has issued over $100,000 worth of scholarships over the past decade! Our scholarships are meant to honor students who demonstrate the Rotary Credo, "Service above Self." To learn more about how to submit, please fill out the contact form below.
Rotary Club of the Caldwells Scholarships - Our flagship scholarship, we award two $5,000 scholarships to students that have exemplary community service records. One scholarship is awarded at James Caldwell High School, and one is awarded at West Essex Regional High School.
Pat Kiernan Willing Hearts Memorial Scholarship- This scholarship is offered in memory of the late Patricia Kiernan, founder of Willing Hearts Consignment Shop. This $7,500 scholarship is awarded to the best overall scholarship application received by the Rotary Club of the Caldwells during the year. Key attributes include high academic standards & community service.
Essex Valley School Scholarships- The Rotary Club of the Caldwells is proud to work with Essex Valley School as their sole scholarship provider. Our club has awarded over $5,000 of scholarships to Essex Valley Students over the past 3 years - and we look to continue to grow our offering.
Essex County Vocational Technical Institute- In 2024, The Rotary Club of the Caldwells was excited to offer it's first scholarship at Essex County Votech for $1,000. Our club is looking to expand our vocation-focused scholarships in the near future.
Youth Exchange Opportunities
Short Term Youth Exchange- Our club proudly sponsors students in our local community to attend the short term youth exchange program in Japan every July. This is a 3 week emmersive experience where student will have the opportunity to experience Japanese culture, meet rotary leaders in Japan, and connect with other Rotary Youth Exchange Students as well as local Japanese Students. Open to Sophomores and Juniors.
Long Term Youth Exchange- Our long term youth exchange program offers students the opportunity to study for a full year abroad. Past participants have spent a full year in Denmark, Japan, and Spain! This opportunity is open to incoming Juniors (the selection process start January of the students Sophomore year.

Youth Leadership Programs
Every summer our club sponsors students participation in the Rotary Youth Leadership Program. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a Rotary International program. It is an intensive leadership experience where young people develop their skills as a leader while having fun and making connections with fellow students, community leaders, inspirational speakers and peer mentors. The program combines classroom and physical activities designed to develop team building and reliance on others.
